Rick joined Aetna Life and Casualty as a personal lines underwriter after graduating from Colorado State University and reached the position of Senior Underwriter. He went on to become co-owner of an independent agency based in Boulder, Colo. As an agent, Morgan developed the process of transactional filing, which ultimately brought new efficiencies to thousands of independent agencies.
He also served as a national director on the GEMINI advisory council and was instrumental in the development of the GEMINI Users Group, of which he became national president. He has also served as vice president of marketing for Delphi Information Systems and executive vice president of ConfirmNet Corp. With two partners, Morgan launched Insurance Reference Systems, which created Silver Plume, the insurance reference material CD-ROM. This product revolutionized the way insurance reference material was distributed and benefited both agents and insurance companies. Morgan also was co-founder of HIGH-TECC, an industry-wide educational event. He was the founding editor of The Automated Agency Report, and his articles have appeared in Rough Notes and Independent Agent, among other publications.Rick served as senior vice president of marketing for Applied Systems, a leading agency management system vendor, from which he retired in October 2007. He served as Interim CEO of ASCnet (Applied Systems Client Network) from July 2009 - June 2010. In addition to his own consulting, he is currently VP New Media at Aartrijk, a Washington, D.C.-area branding firm. Rick is currently serving as Chair of the IIABA Agents Council for Technology (ACT) Social Web Workgroup. He is also a Director At-Large for IIABNY, serves on the Board of Directors for the Personal LInes Growth Alliance and is a member of the advisory board of WAHVE.In 2010 he was honored by being named to Insurance Newscast's 2009 list of the 100 Most Powerful People in the Insurance Industry - North America.
