Social Web Survey Results – We still have some work to do.

Recently, IIABNY conducted a survey to determine the level of use of the social web of its membership. Despite the relatively small number of agents who completed the survey, I still found some of the results very interesting – perhaps even a bit “scary”. For example, considering the influence the  social web is having on our society and the transformation that is taking place in communication, marketing and sales, I find it “scary” that 69% of the respondents have no plans to implement a social networking strategy into their agency.

Reading the comments was also telling. When asked, “What has been the greatest benefit to having an agency presence on a Social Networking site?” answers ranged from, “No Benefit what so ever. Employees play on these sites and waste time and they say they can’t get their work done.” to “It has allowed us to stay in constant contact with our customers, and provided us with new clients. Customers are able to leave questions via the networking site, and we answer them as fast as we can.” Is it possible this has more to do with management than the technology?

Take a look at the full survey here and let me know what you think.
